Elisabeth Myers
As a printmaker, I explore and celebrate the material substance and iterative process of printmaking. Beginning with figurative subjects, often captured from life, I evolve each image through successive cycles of drawing, abstraction and conversion to new substrates.
Balancing traditional intaglio techniques with experimentation, I actively embrace the physical idiosyncrasies of the medium, welcoming the textures of unpolished plates and handmade papers. I preserve pentimenti and incidental marks as a visual time-lapse, transforming the evidence of hesitation, thought, and physical labor into a vital component of the final image.
